MARY'S HOUSE AT SILVER HEELS WILLING HANDS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 You can contribute your time, skills and knowledge.  We are in need of volunteers in several areas.  Health care, ministerial, drivers, staff, teaching life skills to the women in our house and various other areas.  This is an opportunity to provide a positive impact for a woman in need.


 We truly appreciate all the prayers and support you have shown us. Without it we would not be able to provide housing to these expecting mothers. Thank you and God Bless!

Job Description: House Manager

 

Hours Expectations:  20-40 hours per week with on call duties as needed

Reports to: Mary’s House Director or Designee

Works Closely With: Board President or designee, support staff and community.  


The House Manager shall be a faith-based woman; committed to serve; be available to staff, Board, residents, and supporters; and able to lead others to accomplish the mission of Mary’s House.


Qualifications

  •  Be a committed Christian woman.
  •  Be capable of providing leadership and spiritual guidance to staff and residents by word and deed.
  • Be available and on-call as needed.
  • Must have a pro-life stance concerning abortion.
  • Be a person of demonstrated integrity, maturity, and sound judgment, capable of establishing and maintaining a sound administrative structure.
  • Experience in administration or human services preferred.
  • Life experience will be considered.
  • Computer skills are preferred and will be needed.
  • Shall not be the perpetrator in a substantiated report of neglect or abuse.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality for staff/Board/residents/supporters.
  • Provide support in daily living skills.
  • Be able to maintain a professional and caring attitude in all circumstances.
  • Be able to follow instructions

 

Job Description

The goal is to make each mother accountable for their actions to become independent loving and caring mothers to their children in a healthy and spiritual atmosphere.

  • Communicate and collaborate with the director, as well as other house managers, on all necessary issues for the health and wellbeing of the household and individuals.
  • Be up-lifting and encouraging to residents and help residents and their child as needed and appropriate. Take advantage of teachable moments.
  • Ensure completion of daily, weekly and monthly household responsibilities.
  • Distribute and maintain daily records as assigned by the director such as medication records, incident reports, and daily logs.
  • Assist mothers with obtaining transportation to and from doctor appointments, to and from employment, etc. such as Morgan County Transit. Teach and encourage mothers to make appointments and find transportation on their own.
  • Encourage mothers to independently find childcare services.
  • Essential skills (lifting, yard work, climbing steps, reaching, cooking, laundry)
  • Monitor the sign in and out report of anyone who enters or leaves the house.
  • Assist the director in planning support classes according to the needs of mothers in the home.
  • Be assigned as a Mentor to residents as needed.
  • Answer the in-house telephone. Take messages and document when a call comes in.
  • You may be asked to prepare a meal for the house for all residents on weekly family dinner night.
  • Monitor and enforce curfew which is at 9:00 pm each evening, and fill out an incident report of any residents not meeting curfew and communicate this to the director.
  • Document on incident forms and communicate with other house managers and the director any infractions that were dealt with during shift or any ongoing situations that need to be addressed.
  • Maintain self-control when dealing with situations; de-escalate conflicts as needed. Be peaceful and unbiased.
  • Attend all in house dinners, workshops, support groups and meetings that are going on during your shift. Ensure the mothers also attend.
  • Maintain a posted daily/weekly calendar for the home.
  • Maintain and distribute house and personal supplies such as shampoo, cleaners, toilet paper, etc. Keep a shopping list and run errands to store when needed.
  • Transport residents when necessary and other transportation options are not available.
  • Maintain a peaceful atmosphere and promote positive and healthy living.
  • Follow through with all decisions made by the director and/or Mary's House Board of Directors set forth to handle situations or infractions and/or safety and peacefulness of the household.
  • Follow all of Mary's House Board policies and procedures and support the core values of Mary’s House. Read and sign an agreement to implement policies set forth by Mary's House Board.
  • Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
  • All employees are required to sign a confidentiality form. Confidentiality must be held on all functions pertaining to, but not limited to, our residents, staff, board members and all house business. 


 

The House Manager will work at the headquarters of Mary’s House at Silver Heels. Inc. Mary’s House at Silver Heels, Inc., is a faith-based non-profit organization whose mission is to care for and preserve the sanctity of life.
